  1. The availability of education resources to the public wil;l make it easy for every one to learn and with high quality. This will publish science between all people and help poor people who has the enthusiasm to be able to learn . I wonder if we can share our resources in Egypt with the whole world.

I agree, Muhammad. It is no longer acceptable in an increasingly Web-enabled society for people to have an enthusiasm to learn and yet not be allowed access to these (often publicly-funded) high-quality university course materials.

On a separate topic, might anybody be able to send me some details or an OA reference for the Carnegie-Mellon study Catherine Casserly mentioned towards the end of this talk – in which those students from a volunteer group randomly selected to take a course online in half the time, outperformed those taking the traditional course. Would be v interested to read through this.

(ps – John, thanks very much for your email earlier today. I’ll be replying in earnest the moment I get a chance!!)

    Muhammad,

We would love to have your institution (or others from Africa or the Middle East) as members of the OCWC. Membership is open, following these very simple guidelines:

We’re slowly working on the right way to approach Africa. It will take some time, but we’re gonna get there.
