There are a number of ways that you can support the OpenCourseWare Consortium:

Foundations – MIT's initial OpenCourseWare (OCW) project would not have been possible without the generous financial support of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Ab Initio Software Corporation. Many of the other OCW projects around the world are also receiving foundational support. If you are a foundation representative who would like to financially support the global OCW movement, please contact us directly at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Individuals – The member institutions of the OpenCourseWare Consortium have published their faculty's course materials freely and openly. However, in order to sustain these projects long-term, we rely on the financial support of those who support our mission to advance global education. Thus, your $50, $100, or $500 donation will enable us to continue to offer a high-quality publication of open educational materials. If you would like to support one of the individual projects financially, please contact us directly at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Copyright holders – Most faculty include passages from books, quotes, graphics, or images in their teaching materials that cannot be published in an OCW environment due to copyright restrictions. If you are a publisher of books or software, or you own the Intellectual Property rights to content specifically referred to in an OCW-based course from any member of the OpenCourseWare Consortium, please contact us directly at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Technology – While OCW projects are not technology projects, all the OCW projects participating in the OpenCourseWare Consortium rely on Web-based technologies to enable the open sharing of knowledge. If you would like to support the Consortium through a donation of technology or software, please contact us directly at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

In addition, an array of corporate and organizational partners is working with the members of the OpenCourseWare Consortium to achieve the Consortium's goals. The following organizations have made significant financial donations, or in-kind donations of time and resources:

Foundation Support

William and Flora Hewlett Foundation – The Hewlett Foundation, incorporated as a private foundation in 1966, was established by the late Palo Alto, CA, industrialist William R. Hewlett, his wife, Flora Lamson Hewlett, and their eldest son, Walter B. Hewlett. Headquartered in Menlo Park, CA, the foundation concentrates its resources on activities in conflict resolution, education, the environment, performing arts, population, and U.S.-Latin American relations.

Andrew W. Mellon Foundation – The New York, NY-based Mellon Foundation is active in higher education, museums and art conservation, performing arts, population, conservation and the environment, and public affairs.

Adamu Adamu, student supplementing his learning with JHSPH OCW

Adamu Adamu, a medical screening officer at the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, decided last year to pursue a master’s of public health degree. But when he considered applying to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, he found he could not afford the tuition. Although he is now studying public health in Scotland at the University of Dundee’s Division of Community Health Sciences, Adamu is getting a taste of what the Bloomberg School has to offer through the JHSPH OpenCourseWare program.
